What We Believe

Starratt Road Christian Church seeks to be a church patterned after that of the New Testament, believing that Christian Unity (the subject of Jesus' prayer in John 17) can only be achieved by restoring that which Jesus originally established. While being totally dependent on the headship of Christ, we are independent of denominational affiliations. Churches in the New Testament, while linked in loving fellowship, were locally autonomous. Local congregations were led by servant-leaders called Elders and Deacons, chosen by the congregation and commissioned to serve and lead.

We believe in the inerrancy of the Scriptures and that through them God reveals all that we need to know about Him, His Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit (II Timothy 3.16-1 7). The Bible reveals that God loves us in spite of our sinfulness and that, through the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ, we can all receive His forgiveness.

Forgiveness, or salvation, is offered by God's grace and received by us through faith (belief repentance, confession, and New Testament baptism). Because of salvation, the Bible teaches us to be faithful and steadfast (Acts 2:42, Revelation 2:10). This assures us of eternal life as well as a blessed life during our time on earth.

We believe the church is the body of Christ (I Corinthians 12) and that the saved are all vital parts of the body gifted and called to serve one another and a lost world (Matthew 28:18- 20). Through committed service and outreach come the most satisfying blessings of life. God and Jesus lead and enable us through knowledge of the Scriptures and the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit.

Simply put, we believe what the Bible teaches, and seek to live it out in our lives. If such a faith is what you're seeking or you d like to discuss the above, we 'd be glad to talk to you about it. If we can help you in anyway, please call one of our staff or the office. God Bless!
